After high school graduation, Brenda took a data processing course that taught operating a key punch machine. she worked as an Executive Secretary at Stanley Manufacturing in Chambersburg, PA and then at Waynesboro Hospital doing payroll, secretarial duties for the Administrative Asst. and the Nursing Staff Director as well as typing for 20 different departments. She would also provide vacation coverage in the Medical Records Dept. doing light transcription. From there she moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she began a career in the title industry with First American Title, starting first as an administrative secretary and working her way to Escrow Supervisor, Sr. Escrow Officer and then onto Branch Manager with First American in Yuma, Arizona. She was fortunate to obtain additional education by completing the Escrow Training Program at Phoenix Community College and a correspondence course from The Land Title Institute covering the fundamental precepts and practices of the Land Title Industry. She would also work in the Accounting, Collections & Trust Department in Yuma providing vacation coverage. She married and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she was employed by Barrett & McNagny as a legal secretary until a position opened up with Dreibelbiss Title as Branch Manager & Closer. Along with her normal duties, she would also help in the Title Department with typing policies and title commitments. After approximately 15 years in the Title Business, she was offered an opportunity to work in the residential building business with Kensington Builders and their flooring store, The Floor Gallery. When the one partner retired from the business she stayed on with the Doyle’s in their family owned business, Hawthorn Valley Enterprises, Inc., where her duties range from secretarial & receptionist to payroll, quarterly taxes, service and more. This will mark her 13th year in the residential building business; and she still finds it diverse, interesting and challenging which continues to keep her focused and driven to learn and grow.
